The Quinta das Relvinhas is located (right) in the middle of the Serra de Monchique, a gentle hilly landscape between the South and West coast of (the) Algarve, far away from the tourist hotspots. With attention to detail, we have renovated this stately mansion, built in the 19th century, and turned it into a guesthouse.
The Quinta has been in family ownership for over 30 years and is still operated by family Peschke, who will gladly welcome you to Monchique together with their young, engaged and friendly team. The personal atmosphere will make you feel just like you are at home.
Our Portuguese country house lies at the foot of the mountain Foia, also called the 'Roof of Algarve' with its altitude of around 900m. The Quinta itself is located at 495m (altitude) and thus enjoys a mild climate throughout the whole year. To the South and West coast, it is a ride of mere 35km. You can easily walk to the centre of Monchique in less than 10 minutes, strolling through the narrow and paved alleyways of the town.
The mansion is surrounded by a spacious and natural garden area with a swimming pool, lawns, fruit meadows, fruit trees and chill out areas. Both our wintergarden and the billiard room offer a cosy setting for a get-together in the evening.
With its fertile hillsides and fragant/scented pine and eucalytus trees, the Serra de Monchique provides a stunning contrast to the sparse vegetation of the nearby Atlantic coast. The tranquil town of Monchique is known for its numerous handcrafts such as plaiting, textile art, pottery and woodcarving. Moreover, small boutique shops, taverns and rustic restaurants welcome you to dawdle and dwell. The mountainous landscape of Monchique is both a place to relax and a point of departure for active and adventurous holidays.
